The Albanian Government is in process of privatizing different public assets, including the non-used military properties, the Albanian Defense Minister Arben Imami reported for the media.

“Privatization process for Ministry of Defense’s properties and former military facilities, currently not being used by the Armed Forces, will be carried out through transparent procedures according to the law,” Minister Imami said.

Defense Minister rejected the opposition's accusations according to which "Ministry of Defense properties are heading to an unknown direction".

He explained that identification and privatization of properties, not being used by the Armed Forces, are part of an integrated action plan, clarifying that “price of assets under privatization process is being assessed by a special commission, whose activity could be verified by the parliamentarians, the Supreme State Audit etc.”

The Socialist opposition Party is accusing the Government is using any mean to increase revenues through privatizing every any government asset.
