Albania's Jan-March insurance premiums rise 6.56% on the year

Gross written premiums posted by Albania’s insurers inJanuary-March jumped by 6.56% to 2 billion leke (15 million euros/USD 20million) on the year, the financial supervisory authority reported.
Overall claims paid out totaled 0.46 billion leke (3.3 million euros/USD4.5million), up 40.88% from the same period a year earlier, theauthority said in a statement.
A total of 135,080 insurance policies were signed, marking a16.09% decrease.
The main insurers in Albania are Sigal with a 28.94% market share, followed bySigma at 17.64%, and Insig at 12.53%, the statement added.
