European unionEnlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele, arrived in Tirana and spoke during a newsconference onMarch 19th.Commissioner Fuele expressed congratulations to the achievements of Albania infulfilling the European aspirations and said that Albania is moving in theright direction, regarding the visa liberalization. He also said that he praised the commitment of the Albaniangovernment and Prime Minister Berisha on zero tolerance fight against organizedcrime and corruption. Althoughhe did warn Albania that months of political stalemate were damaging thecountry's prospects of joining the bloc. Albania's opposition Socialist Party,which controls nearly half the seats in parliament, has boycotted the assemblyfor six months, holding up the passage of laws including many that are neededto align the country with EU legislation.
