A new court network in Serbia will be established in early 2014 as a law on the seats of courts and public attorney offices is due to be enacted in October, announced the president of the Commission for the Implementation of the National Judicial Reform Strategy, Miroljub Tomić, who is also the vice-president of the High Judicial Council. Tomić believes that the introduction of new professions into the Serbian judiciary as of the next year, such as that of public notaries, dispute mediators, and also the increase of the number of bailiffs will take a considerable load off the judiciary, which has already been encumbered with too many cases. He stressed that judicial reforms were among the priorities of the Republic of Serbia and were aimed at promoting the judicial system and achieving the principle of objectivity and quality of justice, promotion of expertise, responsibility and the efficiency of the judiciary. He said that the National Judicial Reform Strategy would bring many changes through 2018, with a view to establishing a system of legal security and of a more efficient, transparent and faster judicial system.
