28,7% of tourists visiting Bulgaria used online reservations

Balkans.com Business News Correspondent - 19.09.2013

Around half of the foreign tourists visiting Bulgaria use the services of tourist agencies, but the number of tourists using online reservations is also quite significant (28,7%). This are the results from a research by “Market Eyes” asking the opinion of 800 tourists from Germany, Russia, Great Britain and the Czech Republic. The research has been conducted in the beginning of September at the airports in Sofia, Varna and Burgas.
The data shows that 55% of foreign tourists have used a tourists agency to organize their vacation, another 30% have made their reservations online. Only 7% of the tourists arrive in Bulgaria without a reservation. The research also shows that most of the tourists plan their vacation much in advance: 37,2% have made reservations more than 3 months in advance, another 34% have planned their holiday between 2 and 3 months before arrival.
According to the research 90% of foreign tourists are satisfied with their stay in Bulgaria. The climate, the beautiful nature, the sea and the beaches are among the things tourists like the most. Concerning the tourist services, accommodation has the highest satisfaction score with 90,4% of the tourists satisfied.
Most of the foreign tourists stay in 4 and 5-star hotels, according to figures from National Statistics Institute. Another research ordered by the Ministry of Economy and Energy, conducted last year recognizes the renovated hotel facilities as one of Bulgaria’s main advantages. Invest Bulgaria
