Cyrpus Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ioannis Kasoulides, concluded a two-day official visit in Lisbon, where he met with his Portuguese counterpart, Mr Rui Chancerelle de Machete. The two Ministers had the opportunity to discuss, inter alia, bilateral issues, the Cyprus problem, as well as current developments in the Southeastern Mediterranean and the Middle East, with particular emphasis on the situation in Syria and Egypt. Further to Mr Kasoulides’ consultations in Madrid, the two Ministers agreed on the need for establishing, together with other Member States, an informal consultative forum consisted of Mediterranean EU Member-States. The consultations of this group will include Mediterranean issues that concern the EU, such as the economy, the Union for the Mediterranean, the Southern Neighborhood, issues of illegal immigration, tourism and agriculture.
