Montenegro's State Secretary for European Integration and Chief Negotiator Ambassador Aleksandar Andrija Pejovic paid a two-day visit to Lithuania, during which he had several bilateral meetings with officials of the state.
Ambassador Pejovic interlocutors welcomed the progress so far that Montenegro has made in bringing the EU and stressed that Lithuania supports Montenegro in progress towards EU membership. They also suggested that Montenegro take advantage of the current period the Lithuanian Presidency of the EU to speed up activities at the opening of several other chapters, primarily those related to the rule of law. In this context, it is offered expert support Lithuania and exchanged views on concrete programs of cooperation in the field of European integration through the implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed by the two Governments.
During the meeting with the Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Chairman of the European Affairs Gediminas Kirkilas and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Benediktas Juodkom, they exchanged views on the dynamics of the process of accession of Montenegro to the EU. Ambassador Pejovic informed his interlocutors with the results so far in the process, with special emphasis on the activities undertaken in the direction of the opening chapter 23:24 concerning the rule of law. He pointed to the full commitment of the Government, Parliament and civil society institutions in order to fulfill all the obligations of a dynamic European agenda reports the Montenegrin Government.
