Yeni Safak - Consumer products giant Unilever’s Turkish unit has commissioned its EUR 95 million ice-cream factory in Turkey’s central Anatolian province of Konya. The second of its kind in Turkey and 35th in the world for the British-Dutch company, the factory will produce Algida brand ice-creams for the domestic and export markets. “This investment is a shining example of Unilever’s confidence in the continuous growth of the Turkish economy. Algida Konya factory sets the standard for ice-cream production with its high-tech and environment-friendly production techniques .”, Unilever Turkey's Vice President of Food Marketing, Mustafa Seckin said at the opening ceremony.
Employing 300 people, the factory utilizes the latest environment-friendly production practices including the reuse of rain water, heat recovery and zero solid waste policy, adhering to the LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) standard.
Unilever exports its goods produced in Turkey to more than 30 countries while its Istanbul HQ manages the multinational company’s operations in 35 countries in the Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa. IIT
