A delegation of the Romanian Government, led by the Prime Minister, Mr. Victor Ponta are in the Republic of Moldova, on a visit occasioned by the inauguration of the works at Iasi -Ungheni gas pipeline. The delegation that will accompany Mr. Victor Ponta to Chisinau also includes: Daniel Chiţoiu, Deputy Prime Minister, Public Finance Minister, Mircea Dusa, Minister of National Defence, Robert Cazanciuc, Minister of Justice; Remus PRICOPIE, Minister of Education, Constantin Nita, Minister Delegate for Energy, Raed Arafat Secretary of State, Ministry of Health; Bogdan Aurescu, Secretary of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mihai ALBULESCU, Secretary of State, Ministry of Economy, Mihnea Constantinescu, Ambassador with special assignments. Victor Ponta will have during this visit, bilateral talks with his counterpart, Mr. Iurie Leanca with whom he will participate in the inauguration of the Iasi - Ungheni pipeline works. Launching execution works of Iasi -Ungheni pipeline takes place in a symbolic day for the Republic of Moldova - Independence Day. The moment represents the effective implementation of the Joint Declaration on bilateral cooperation, in the area of energy security, signed at the Prime Ministers level on July 17, 2012. Iasi-Ungheni pipeline proves concretely that the strategic partnership established in 2010 between Romania and the Republic of Moldova takes immediate and sustainable effects for the economic development and for the citizens of the two countries. Pipeline project reinforces the role of Romania as crucial partner of the Republic of Moldova, in the effort of European integration, including in terms of actual connection, physical, to the European space.Romanian Prime Minister will participate in the Siret-Prut-Nistru Euroregion Forum. Siret-Prut-Nistru Euroregion includes two counties in Romania (Iasi and Vaslui) and 23 counties of Republic of Moldova. The event will be attended by EU Energy Commissioner Gunter Oettinger. Representatives of the Cabinet, which will be together with the Prime Minister of Moldova will hold bilateral talks with their counterparts in areas of interest, such as energy, education and healthcare, on topics such as energy interconnection, scholarships for students from the Republic Moldova or the prospect of setting up a SMURD type service. The relationship between Romania and the Republic of Moldova knows today an unprecedented level. We have a highly dense and active political dialogue and open approach, results-oriented, of practical cooperation. Romanian Government supports the Republic of Moldova towards fulfilling Chisinau’s commitments to the EU and, on a larger scale, for the full connection of the Republic of Moldova to the European agenda.
