Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle made a statement on the results of the work of the Committee of Inquiry in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia:
"I welcome the successful conclusion of the work of the Committee of Inquiry, with its final report adopted by consensus, supported by all members of the committee. This shows that constructive solutions can be found, with political will, through dialogue and compromise.
I look forward to the follow-up and implementation of the recommendations contained in the report, as well as of the rest of the 1 March political agreement.
I appreciate the helpful role of the EU experts who have assisted the members of the Committee in their work.
The result achieved by the Committee helps in addressing the pressing domestic political issues but also shows that EU integration continues to be important to all political parties in the country.
This latest development will be reflected in the forthcoming Progress Report on the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia." European Union
