Europe's largest pickle, vinegar and salad dressing producer, Carl Kühne KG, is looking to expand its Turkey operation with a new vinegar factory that will be located in the province of İzmir and cost an estimated TL 8.5 million reports Today's Zaman.
With the investment the 300-year-old Hamburg-based company plans to make Turkey, where it already owns one factory, its hub for supplying the Middle East and Central Asia. The new factory will have a 10,000 ton production capacity and will be able to bottle up to 16.8 million bottles of product. The primary products produced at the facility will be vinegar and pomegranate syrup. Kühne International CEO Andreas Schubert said not only Turkey's geopolitical importance but its rich food selection also excites the company. “With its growing economy and its strategic location, an investment in Turkey is significant for Kühne since it also presents a huge opportunity for future operations.”
