Online retailer eMAG takes over Romania's Conversion Marketing

Otilia Haraga, Business Review - 14.03.2013

Online retailer eMAG announced it has purchased 90 percent of the share capital of Conversion Marketing, agency of online performance marketing which offers services of media planning, media buying, analysis, creation and marketing strategy.

Conversion Marketing was founded and led by Marius Pahomi who will retain the remaining 10 percent of the stake and will continue to be administrator and general manager.

“I think the new direction that Conversion is taking in online marketing will boost the online publishing market. As part of the transaction, we now have in Conversion the Profitshare affiliation system which very much helped the growth of eMAG and now can be used by any company in Romania. The market will rapidly double and the companies’ trust that the money invested in the online bring visible benefits,” says Iulian Stanciu, general manager of eMAG.

Last year, eMAG outsourced its media buying and special digital projects to Conversion Marketing, which included the management of the Google Adwords account of eMAG.

Last year, eMAG posted EUR 180 million. The company was taken over by Naspers.
