Deputies of the Bosnian Serb Republic (Republika Srpska) parliament on Tuesday elected a new Bosnian Serb entity government headed by Zeljka Cvijanovic, a close associate of Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) president Milorad Dodik, newswires reported.
Fifty MPs voted in favour, 22 against and three abstained.
Cvijanovic, who became the first female prime minister of Republika Srpska, took oath with other cabinet members.
In her speech, Cvijanovic pledged to ensure financial stability, carry out reforms and crack down on corruption, thus creating a friendly environment for business.
She noted the new government will strengthen cooperation with the Federation of BiH (FBiH).
Born in 1967, Cvijanovic worked as a teacher after graduation, then an assistant in EU mission in BiH before entering cabinet of Republika Srpska. She is married and a mother of two children.
President Milorad Dodik of Republika Srpska nominated Cvijanovic on Feb. 27 to establish a new cabinet after the former government resigned on the same day.
Under the Constitution, BiH consists of two entities, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska.
