The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development announced on March 7 that it is mulling providing finance to a Turkish company planning to develop a wind farm in Ukraine.
Alongside International Finance Corp., the EBRD said in a statement that it is considering offering a loan to Guris Holding, which plans to build the project in Chernomorske district, Crimea. The loan would fund the first 126MW phase. Guris, an Ankara-based construction company, is considering using turbines from Spain's Gamesa Corp. (GAM) Tecnologica or Germany's Fuhrlander Aktiengesellschaft, the EBRD said.
Guris said in January it won permission to build the plant, with construction slated to start this year. The company is developing the plant, which would have a total 250MW of generation, with Belgium's GreenWorx Holding. The EBRD plans to appoint an engineer to assess loans for the project, it said.
