According to media, Romania will sell a 51% stake in energy holding Hunedoara to a strategic investor via a share capital increase. The country will select a strategic investor via a sealed tender combined with a public call tender, preceded by negotiations based on the preliminary non-binding offers submitted, the government said in a statement after approving the privatisation strategy for the holding on Wednesday.
Recall that CE Hunedoara (installed capacity of 1,435 MW accounting for c5.0% of Romania's total electricity output) was set up on November 1st, 2012, with a share capital of RON 203.4m and is fully owned by the Romanian government through the Economy Ministry. Romania initially planned to sell a majority stake in the energy holding via a public offering of newly issued shares.
