Serbia's First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said this week in London that the relations between Serbia and Great Britain are on the rise at all levels and that he expects strong support from that country to the European course of Serbia.
Vucic told the Tanjug news agency at the end of his two-day visit London that he had a large number of important meetings, during which he received assurances that Britain will help Serbia on its European path.
The First Deputy Prime Minister said that he expects British investors to come to Serbia in larger numbers when the business environment improves, and he expressed his hope that bilateral cooperation will be improved at all levels.
He met today with Secretary of State for Defence Philip Hammond, Director General for Security Policy at the Ministry of Defence Tom McKane and Minister for International Security Strategy Andrew Murrison, Minister for Europe David Lindington and representatives of intelligence agencies, including MI 6.
Vucic said that he spoke yesterday with Foreign Minister of Great Britain William Hague and members of the EU Committee of the House of Lords.
We talked about the relationship of Great Britain towards Serbia, European integration, our economic, political and military relations, and we concluded that they are on the rise and that we are promoting cooperation, but that all this can be done much faster, Vucic said.
He said that the issue of Kosovo-Metohija was also touched on, as well as all burning issues and topics that are not easy for Serbia, and he expressed the belief that our country will have an ally in Great Britain in the future and that Serbia will be a reliable, serious and responsible partner to that country.
