Romania's newspaper sales continue to decline

Romania's local publications saw their sales dip further between October- December 2012, compared to the similar timeframe in 2011, according to data from the Romanian Bureau of Circulation Auditing (BRAT).
The decline was most obvious in the case of quality publications where Romania Libera, edited by Media Gamma Publishers, remains leader, with a circulation of 22,986 copies in December 2012. However, compared to December 2011, when it had sales of 36,388 copies, the daily declined by nearly one third.
Jurnalul National, edited by Intact Publishing, holds the second position, with 17,409 copies sold in December 2012, compared to 21,227 copies in December 2011.
Evenimentul Zilei comes third with 14,103 sold copies in December 2012, from 15,230 copies in December 2011.
Adevarul, edited by Adevarul Holding, comes on the fourth place with 14,638 sold copies in December 2012 compared to 26,633 copies in December 2011.
Among tabloids, the leader is Click! edited by Adevarul Holding, with average sales of 139,440 copies in December 2012, compared to 153,031 copies in December 2011.
On the second place ranked Libertatea tabloid, edited by Ringier Romania, with sales of 84,512 copies in December 2012, compared to 100,232 copies in December 2011.
In the category of the sports newspapers, Gazeta Sporturilor edited by Convergent Media, part of Intact group, saw sales rise from 25,535 last December to 32,769 in December 2011. Source: Business Review Romania
