17 billion euro the Investments in Romania in 2012

Investments in the Romanian economy were up by 12.3 percent in 2012, as against 2011, totalling Ron 75.574 billion (approx. 17 billion euros), Ron 26.974 billion of which were scored in the last quarter of the year, meaning a 5 percent increase in the figure recorded in the same interval in 2011, according to the provisional data made available by the National Institute of Statistic (INS) on Monday, Agerpres said.

In 2012, investments carried out in new construction works totaled Ron 35.88 billion, standing for 47.5 percent of the total investments, compared with 49.5 percent in 2011. Investments in machinery and equipment and means of conveyance amounted to RON 32.821 billion, that is 43.4 of the total investments, compared with 40.8 percent in 2011.

According to INS, the industry and the trade/services (wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles) were the sectors with the highest volumes of investments.

Net investments in national economy climbed 5 percent in the last quarter of 2012 compared with the same time span a year before, with a 15.9 percent increase recorded in machinery and equipment (including means of conveyance) and a 11.2 percent in other expenses. New construction works dropped 6.7 percent.

The last quarter of 2012 came with an increased in the share of machinery and equipment (including means of conveyance) in total investments by 4.5 percent, compared with the same interval a year before), and by 0.4 percent in other expenses. The weight of investments in new construction works slipped 4.9 percent.
