In mid-February, air temperatures in Romania were within 4+8оC, or 1-6оC above normal. Therefore slow renewal of growth of winter crops is expected in the country’s southern plain areas. At the same time, earlier planted winter crops will be in better condition than later planted ones. Depending on the planting date, winter crops are at different development stages – from emergence to tillering. Owing to recent rains and snowfalls, the soil moisture content is estimated as optimal.
