Getting started
The first thing you need to do is choose a news reader, if you already don't have one. This is a piece of software that checks feeds you have requested and lets you read any new articles that have been added. There are various types of news reader. Amid the doom and gloom forecasts for the Cyprus economy, the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) announced a 20 per cent increase in tax collections for January compared to the same month the year before reports the Cyprus Mail.
According to data released yesterday, the €40.5 million increase is mainly due to a 47 per cent increase in revenue from the special contribution to the defence fund and a 28 per cent increase in company tax revenues.
The IRD’s total collections for January 2013 reached €240,259,908 compared to €199,738,918 in January 2012.
