22 March Startup Weekend for the first time in Serbia

Balkans.com Business News Correspondent - 19.02.2013

Under the auspices of HRH Crown Prince Alexander’s Foundation for Education and Culture, Startup weekend is finally coming to Serbia on March 22, after being organized in over 100 countries with over 57,000 entrepreneurs. Creative minds ranging from entrepreneurs to graphic designers will be gathering at The Royal Palace in Belgrade for a crash course of taking an idea and turning it into a business.

HRH Crown Prince Alexander said: "This event is the start of an important path that my foundation has taken to foster entrepreneurship in Serbia. Through entrepreneurship, Serbia can gain ground on innovation, economic growth, productivity and most of all, employment. With the intelligence of the Serbian people, the resources of the country, strategic location and favorable tax environment, Serbia can be the startup hub for the region. Let's all work together towards this goal."

The event will be limited to 120 attendees and those interested can apply at www.belgrade.startupweekend.org .

Startup Weekend Belgrade is an intense 54 hour event where a community of entrepreneurs, startup enthusiasts, developers, designers, marketing gurus and anyone interested in building a business will come together over the course of a weekend to share ideas, form teams, and launch a startup. This is a perfect opportunity for meeting with potential partners who will help you to make your idea come to life, but also for already launched startups to improve themselves and to get some additional finances for their businesses.

Crown Prince Alexander Foundation for Education and Culture and its partners have been working behind the scenes to ensure that this event provides not only inspiration, but the resources required for building and launching a company.

Whether you have a business idea or a skill that is necessary in building a successful startup, this event is one that aspiring entrepreneurs should not miss. The first day will start with concept pitching and team building. Teams will be formed around concepts and various skills that are brought to the table leaving the remainder of the weekend to mind mapping, strategizing and building a real business.

There will be knowledgeable and successful entrepreneurs in attendance to inspire, share and help the teams throughout the weekend. Different field experts will be available for teams to discuss and help the teams in some issues that might occur. The final day teams will have the opportunity to pitch their business to a panel of judges where real prizes and services can be won.
