Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina to double the number of workers in textile, clothes, leather and shoes industries

Balkans.com Business News Correspondent - 06.02.2013

Around 22 and 25 thousand people are currently working in the industry of textile, clothes, leather and shoes in the Federation of B&H. With the implementation of the Strategy for development of this industry for the period from 2013 till 2032, this number could be doubled. This was stated during the presentation of this document at the Chamber of Commerce of the Federation of B&H.
On the request of the Government of the Federation of B&H, the Strategy for development of the industry of textile, clothes, leather and shoes was drafted by the experts from the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry of the Federation of B&H, the Chamber of Commerce of  FB&H and several local companies from the aforementioned industry. The document has to be ratified by the Government of FB&H after which it will be directed to a Parliamentary procedure.
According to the Federal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry, Erdal Trhulj, the next step after the implementation of the Strategy is the process of drafting the action plan where all goals and tasks of this document will be defined. He also emphasized that they have to  define clear goals for the improvement of the current state in the industry of textile, clothes, leather and shoes, because it is one of the rare industrial branches which continually marks the increase in production and the number of employees.
”The increase of the industrial production in this branch of industry is bigger that in the total industry production in the Federation of B&H, while the number of employees is increased from 16.800 in 2006 to 21.5000 employees in 2011.”- said Minister Trhulj.
