Pakistan has invited Turkish Housing Administration (TOKİ) to invest in the country to establish a structure similar to that in Turkey, a week after northern Iraq announced it was cooperating with the administration.
“We would like TOKİ’s support and to learn from their experiences, said Muhammad Zubair Motiwala, chairman of the Sindh Board of Investment (SBI) during his meeting with TOKİ Chairman Ahmet Haluk Karabel in the Turkish capital of Ankara.
The chairman praised Turksih contractor’s operations in Pakistan after listening to Karabel speak about the wide-ranged projects the administration has gotten involved in.
For the victims of the 2004 tsunami TOKİ set up 500 homes with social facilities in Sri Lanka and 1,050 homes in the Banda Aceh province of Indonesia.
Over the course of two years TOKI completed disaster homes and a social facilities project that was planned after the flood disaster in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is not the first country that has sought the wisdom of TOKİ. The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in northern Iraq has announced that it is seeking to establish an administration similar to TOKİ, KRG Industry and Trade Minister Sinan Çelebi said, Hurriyet Daily reports.
