Serbian Minister of Finance and Economy Mladjan Dinkic presented to Executive Director for Central and Southeast Europe of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Jean-Marc Peterschmitt and the bank’s new Director for Serbia Matteo Patrone the concept of the Programme for support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SME).
Dinkic called on the EBRD to join the programme for support to SME sector in Serbia.
The idea of the programme is that the state takes part in the financing and temporarily becomes a minority owner of the enterprises which have a promising future and a prominent export potential and possibility to increase production and employment.
Patrone underlined that it is in the EBRD’s interest to invest heavily in the development of private sector in Serbia, particularly in SME sector, but in the development of public sector as well, reads the statement by the Ministry of Finance and Economy.
