Turkey's tourist arrivals spike in December

bne - 24.01.2013

Turkish tourist arrivals rose at their fastest pace in fifteen months in December, data released by the ministry of culture and tourism on January 23 showed.

The number of tourists arrivals surged 12.43% year-on-year in the final month of 2012, reports RTT. Dwarfing the 2.21% visitor growth in November, the figure represents the quickest annual growth recorded since September 2011. The total number of visitors for the month reached 1.34m, compared to 1.63m in November.

Despite the worsening of global economic conditions last year, overall in 2012, Turkey received 31.78m tourists, a 1.04% gain on the 2011 total. That year's figure represented a jump of 9.86% on 2010.
