Romania and Turkmenistan discuss on improvement of cooperation

State Secretary for Strategic Affairs Bogdan Aurescu received, on 17 January 2013, Murat Atajanov, head of the Turkmen Presidential Agency for the Issues of the Caspian Sea.

On the occasion State Secretary Bogdan Aurescu recalled that the development of the special partnership relations, of strategic potential, with Turkmenistan, built on the platform of an energy partnership, remains a priority line of action, confirmed also by the Government Programme for 2013-2016. In the context, he underscored that Romania pursues to substantiate those relations and raise them to the level of a strategic partnership. Bogdan Aurescu expressed the commitment of the Romanian side to achieve the joint objective established in the Action Plan on the implementation of the Joint Declaration of 2009, a plan signed in October 2012 in Ashgabat. In the context, they reviewed the progress of several bilateral cooperation projects of strategic importance, with emphasis on collaboration in the field of energy and transports.
