Romania's Atra Doftana cashes in EUR 200,000 in 2012 from high-end tourism

Simona Bazavan - Business Review - 18.01.2013

The five-star guesthouse Atra Doftana has generated RON 870,000 (close to EUR 200,000) in 2012, RON 330,000 (approximately EUR 76,000) of which came from accommodation while the gourmet restaurant generated the rest. In 2012 the guesthouse had 6,000 guests in 2012 and an average occupancy rate of 51 percent.

Located on the banks of Lake Paltinu, some 130 km from Bucharest, the guesthouse is owned by Emil Munteanu, Eduard Dimitriev, Stefan Mustata and Razvan Florea, four local entrepreneurs with established businesses in IT, EU funds consultancy and home installations. The four of them decided to invest in a high-end tourist side project back in 2008.
