Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic stated that realization of huge investments awaits Serbia – from the beginning of production in the Smederevo Iron Works to offers of some U.S. investors to discuss the Mining Company Trepca.
The Russian Uralvagonzavod, interested in the Smederevo Iron Works, has asked for one-month extension to submit its offer, and the iron works could start working as early as late January, Nikolic told the Beta news agency. He said that offers have come from the U.S. to discuss Trepca, which is still at the stage of talks with major businessmen who believe that they would be entirely safe to engage in this business and establish strategic partnership with Serbia when it comes to Trepca.
