Turkey: Capacity utilisation rate decline mainly driven by export related sectors

TEB - 27.11.2012

Capacity utilisation rate (CUR) declined 0.4pp to 72.7% in November on a seasonally adjusted basis. Unadjusted CUR decreased 0.9pp to 74.0%. The decline in CUR was mainly driven by export related sectors. On a seasonally adjusted basis, CUR in basic metal production was down by 1.2pp, while CUR in motor vehicles production declined 1.0pp. Durable goods production and investment goods production fell by 0.9 and 1.4 pp, respectively. On the other hand, CUR in manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products increased by 5.1pp, whereas CUR in non-metallic mineral production increased 0.2pp to 75.9.
Real sector confidence index increased from 108.2 in October to 109 in November, on a seasonally adjusted basis. The increase is mostly due to an increase in fixed investment expenditure and improvement in general business situation.
